ESEROMA HOMESTAY IS A SCAM

Message emailed to me by someone who stayed in my house.

Hello Romana.

I am writing to you as I think I may have inadvertently stayed in your house in Fiji. I booked with Eseroma Home Stay through Air BNB. The place looked wonderful, and the reviews were great, but I found out that Eseroma Homestay is a scam.

Everything seemed fine, until I got there. I was put in to your house, the one that has Bula Romanas on the front. I thought that as a bit unusual and asked our host why it was called Romanas. She avoided replying first time around. When I asked again later, she said the hosts, Eseroma and Naomi had asked her not to talk about that. That struck me as being unusual.

The accommodation was nice enough, but the lack of electricity was a real issue. There was nothing on their web page to say they did not have electricity. The web page did actually say in the past that they had solar electricity but when we arrived it didn't work, and there was no explanation of why.

The grounds were a mess. There was litter all over the place. There was broken chairs, clothing, rubbish and mess. It was like they did not clean up.

The food was mostly rice dishes and cassava, not at all what we expected. There was some minor variation, but we didn't feel that we were getting value for money.

Then we found a hidden stick with a message "Private house, not an AirBNB" and your email address. When we emailed you, we were stunned to find we were staying in a private house, and not an Air BNB, and that Eseroma and Naomi were scamming us. We cut our booking short, and went on to stay at Long Beach resort. I was also disappointed that Air BNB were doing nothing about this even though they were aware that Naomi and Eseroma were operating a scam homestay in Gunu Village on Naviti Island.

I wish you luck in dealing with this issue in the past. I hope others reading this will take their business to one of the other homestays elsewhere, and not give their business to Eseroma (he calls himself Tua) or Naomi.
